WhatsApp is testing new features to improve the calling experience. You’ll soon notice a mute button and the ability to disable video for incoming calls. The software will now support Emoji reactions for video calls, with a maximum of six reactions.
Last month, we discussed WhatsApp’s ability to be configured as the default calling option for iPhones. But before that happens, the app is striving to improve its calling experience by adding a new mute option, the ability to turn off the camera before picking up a call, and emoji reactions for video conversations. According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp Beta version 2.25.10.16 for Android includes new calling capabilities. As you can see from the screenshots, the app will now provide a Mute option in the notification shade while on a call. Currently, it simply displays the end call button, and you have to launch the app to mute it.

WhatsApp will now include a much-needed option for turning down your video before accepting incoming video calls. This manner, you can opt to turn off the video if you are not available to take the call. This is one of those tiny things that we’ve all desired for a long time, as you can’t turn off video until you answer the phone right now. Last but not least, the app will support emoji reactions during video conferencing. It allows you to react with up to six different emoticons, making video calls more interactive and enjoyable. I believe it’ll be beneficial in group calls, where you can swiftly signal your agreement with a thumbs-up emoji.
All of these new features are presently available to a select group of beta users. However, they will make their way to your gadgets in the following months. These are simple enhancements that will significantly improve your WhatsApp experience in the long term. I’m delighted the organization is concentrating on such issues.
