Yūgo Kobayashi’s Aoashi manga television anime will receive a second season in 2026, according to a visual released on the website on Tuesday. The second season will not be animated by Production I.G. but rather by TMS Entertainment.

The protagonist of the manga is Ashito Aoi, a resident of Ehime prefecture and a third-year middle school student. Although he makes an effort to conceal it, Ashito is a talented soccer player. He triggers a catastrophe that is a major setback for him because of his very direct personality. Tatsuya Fukuya, the coach of the club’s young team and a veteran of the formidable J-Club team Tokyo City Esperion, then emerges in front of Ashito. Ashito is invited to try out for the Tokyo youth team by Tatsuya, who recognizes his talent and sees through him.
The anime’s first season debuted in April 2022. When the anime premiered in Japan, Crunchyroll streamed it.

Production I.G.’s first season was directed by Akira Satō (Release the Spyce). Masahiro Yokotani was in charge of the series scripts (Free! – Iwatobi Swim Club, All Out!!, Tropical-Rouge! Precure). For character design, Manabu Nakatake, Toshie Kawamura, Asuka Yamaguchi, and Saki Hasegawa were given credit; Natake and Yamaguchi were also given credit as principal film directors. Sub-character designers Eisuke Shirai, Yukiko Watabe, Miho Daidouji, and Naho Seike were given credit. For soccer supervision, Kenichi Takeshita, Jun Soga, and Kenji Iizuka received recognition. Masaru Yokoyama wrote the score.
The manga was first published by Kobayashi in January 2015 in Weekly Big Comic Spirits. Naohiko Ueno came up with the initial plot idea for the manga.
