The Observation Records of My Fiancée: The Misadventures of a Self-Proclaimed Villainess (Jishō Akuyaku Reijō na Konyakusha no Kansatsu Kiroku.) light novel series by author Shiki and illustrator Wan Hachipisu will get a television anime adaptation, with a 2026 premiere date announced on Monday.

For the anime, Ashi Productions is working with Junichi Yamamoto (Anyway, I’m Falling in Love with You; Maebashi Witches; Why Raeliana Ended Up in the Duke’s Mansion). Akiko Inoue (The Ones Within, You and Idol Precure♪, GeGeGe no Kitarō (TV 2018)) is writing and supervising the series scripts, while Miki Matsumoto (Summer Time Rendering, Angels of Death) is animating Wan Hachipisu’s character designs.
Prince Cecil, who had always found life effortlessly ordinary, was exceptionally endowed to his own detriment. His life took an unexpected turn one day when he got engaged to the Chancellor’s daughter, Miss Bertia. But this interaction was everything but ordinary.
“Prince Cecil! I have to admit that I am the antagonist in this tale. Bertia’s statement was shocking. According to her, she recalled playing the antagonist in a “Otome game” in her previous existence. Her grand goal was to become a great villain and get her engagement revoked. But no matter what she has planned to do wrong, her efforts have always failed.
The story was first serialized by Shiki on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website, but it was later removed. The original novel was published in two volumes by AlphaPolis in 2017, including drawings by Wan Hachipisu. Jishō Akuyaku Reijō na Tsuma ni Kansatsu Kiroku is the title of the ongoing sequel to the series. On May 23, the fifth volume of the sequel will be released. The first volume of the sequel, titled Observation Records of My Wife, will be made available digitally in English by Hanashi Media on June 30.
Under the title An Observation Log of My Fiancée Who Calls Herself a Villainess, AlphaPolis has published the manga version of the original book series, which consisted of six volumes plus an additional volume, in English on the Alpha Manga service. The manga was drawn by Natsume Hasumi.
Additionally, Hasumi is creating a manga version of the sequel to Jishō Akuyaku Reijō na Tsuma no Kansatsu Kiroku. On May 23, the sequel’s third volume will be shipped to Japan. Additionally, the manga will be published in English by Alpha Manga under the title An Observation Log of My Wife Who Calls Herself a Villainess.
