Effective May 20, 2025, Genshim Impact will now demand all US based participants to provide proof of age.
Players risk having their accounts suspended and having their data erased if they don’t prove their age by july 18, 2025
Those who do not provide proof of age by July 20, 2026, will have their Hoyoverse account permanently removed.
Genshin Impact has a large worldwide player base, and the community is deeply committed in the story and character development. Prior to the release of Nod-Krai, Hoyoverse stated that it will now demand players in the United States to go through an age verification process to avoid having their accounts banned. This decision is in reaction to the FTC’s settlement over the game’s gacha (aka treasure box) mechanism.
Hoyoverse has announced on its website that they are now compelled by law to age-verify US player accounts. The age verification mechanism will be implemented for all US participants by May 20, 2025. Players will be asked to complete it at login or new account creation.
Every Genshin Impact player must authenticate their age by July 18, 2025, or suffer severe penalties to their accounts.
What Happens to Genshin Impact Players Who Fail to Verify Their Age?

If participants do not prove their age by the July 2025 deadline, they may face the following consequences:
- Account suspension
- In-game friends and chat records deleted
- No further notifications post-suspension due to inaccessible account information as required by law
Unfortunately, that is not the end of it; anyone who continue to fail to verify their ages before July 20, 2026, will have their whole Hoyoverse account removed. This implies that any data associated with the player’s Hoyoverse account, including Hoyolab postings and interactions, as well as gaming data, will be destroyed.
