The highly regarded dark fantasy manga Fullmetal Alchemist by Hiromu Arakawa is debuting on WEBTOON’s English-language platform. Furthermore, a previously unnoticed spring 2025 serial that is quickly gaining popularity on streaming services is making its debut on the well-known vertical-reading comic book platform.
The digital comic book reading service WEBTOON announced the addition of Fullmetal Alchemist and From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman: My Hotshot Disciples Are All Grown Up Now and They Will not Leave Me Alone on May 2, 2025. Full color versions of both series are available, and they have been reformatted to read vertically. Major publishers including IDW (Sonic the Hedgehog), DC Comics (Batman: Wayne Family Adventures), Archie Comics (Big Ethel Energy), Hybe (Dark Moon: The Blood Altar), and many more have joined WEBTOON’s latest collaboration with Square Enix and Yen Press.

From July 12, 2001, to June 11, 2010, Fullmetal Alchemist was published in Square Enix’s Monthly Shonen Gangan magazine. The Elric brothers—Edward and Alphonse—were government-employed alchemists who set out to find the famous Philosopher’s Stone in order to heal their bodies, and the dark fantasy action series chronicled their journey. When they were young, the Elric brothers tried to use prohibited alchemy to revive their deceased mother. But their attempt to circumvent the principles of comparable exchange backfired, as Alphonse lost his complete human body while Edward lost his arm and leg.
Now that they are older alchemists, Edward and his walking-armor brother Al are determined to make amends, but they have no idea how dangerous their quest will be. Video games, animated specials, several films, and two TV anime series were all inspired by the series.

The fantasy series by author Shigeru Sagazaki and artist Tetsuhiro Nabeshima may seem long and unusual—at least to those who are not familiar with light novels—but it has been gaining popularity ever since its anime version was made accessible on Amazon Prime Video.
The show centers around Beryl Gardenant, a middle-aged swordsman whose sole life achievement is operating a little swordfighting dojo in the bush. Allucia, a previous pupil, returns as an elite commander, abruptly upending Beryl’s peaceful existence. After learning that Allucia is not the only one of his students to become a famous fighter, Beryl is compelled to teach the strongest order of knights in the realm.
