If we do not count the Death Stranding sequel as one of the eagerly awaited 2025 releases, it would be unfair. The good news is that we now know when the game will be released. Hideo Kojima announced that Death Stranding 2: On the Beach will be out on June 26, 2025, at this year’s SXSW in Austin, Texas.
PlayStation hosted the event, which featured many significant players from the Death Stranding franchise. Hideo Kojima presented the star-studded SXSW special panel, which also featured Norman Reedus and Troy Baker. At the special showcase, a new 10-minute pre-order trailer was also shown.
The clip included new information about the planned sequel, including the price of the game. The Death Stranding sequel’s inclusion of star cast actors such as Fragile (Léa Seydoux), Tarman (George Miller), Higgs (Troy Baker), Tomorrow (Elle Fanning), Dollamn (Fatih Akin), Rainy (Shioli Kutsuna), The President (Alastair Duncan), Lucy (Alissa Jung), Heartman (Nicholas Winding Refn), and Doctor (Debra Wilson) is a major highlight. Neil also wears the series’ distinctive bandana, which serves as a Metal Gear Solid Snake reference.
Death Stranding 2 Pre-Order Details
Preorder details, along with the game’s cinematics and gameplay, are also shared. Preorders for the standard edition of Death Stranding 2, a PlayStation 5 exclusive priced at $69.99, begin on March 17. Players who opt for the Digital Deluxe or Collector’s Editions, priced at $79.99 and $229.99, respectively, will gain early access to the game on June 24.
All pre-orders will include the following bonus rewards: Custom Hologram: Quokka (EARLY UNLOCK), Battle Skeleton: Silver [Lv1, Lv2, Lv3], Boost Skeleton: Silver [Lv1, Lv2, Lv3], and Bokka Skeleton: Silver [Lv1, Lv2, Lv3]. However, the Digital Deluxe and Collector’s Editions will offer more than just early access. They will also receive additional in-game goodies to assist them move through the game.
Death Stranding 2 On the Beach, as previously announced during the PlayStation State of Play event in 2022, will be released on the PlayStation 5. However, since that Kojima Productions controls the IP, we may see an Xbox release in the future. A Death Stranding concert tour will visit 19 nations and include live music performances beginning November 8, 2025.
