Apple debuted its brand-new Siri assistant at WWDC 2024, which uses the most recent base AI models to provide intelligent responses. Since then, Apple has been teasing Siri’s additional features, such as the ability to access personal data to respond to inquiries and more accurate app management, but these features have been continuously postponed for a variety of reasons.
The customized Siri update was postponed until 2026, according to a previous claim. Apple may pursue a multiyear deal with Google for its Gemini AI models over industry titans like OpenAI’s ChatGPT, according to a November report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.
According to CNBC, it has been confirmed that Apple and Google will collaborate to enable artificial intelligence features for products like Siri later this year. According to a statement received by CNBC’s Jim Cramer, the multiyear collaboration will rely on Google’s Gemini models and cloud technologies for upcoming Apple fundamental models.
Apple wrote to CNBC that:
After careful evaluation, we determined that Google’s technology provides the most capable foundation for Apple Foundation Models and we’re excited about the innovative new experiences it will unlock for our users.
Given that it’s confirmed Apple’s upcoming AI features will be based on Gemini, the details of the partnership deal remain unclear. According to an earlier report in November 2025 from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is expected to pay around $1 billion per year for access to the 1.2 trillion parameter Gemini model, marking a significant leap from the 150 billion parameter system currently powering Apple Intelligence’s cloud-based features.
